Calling all youth looking to get into media
Funded by the Calgary Youth Foundation, Corterra provides hands-on opportunities for youth to volunteer as photographers, videographers, and more. This program will allow you to learn media, how to work with clients, and make an impact by serving local causes in your community.
You will work in a risk-free environment with equipment provided where you get to take photos and unleash your creativity whilst working with our clients. Our mentors are there to guide you every step of the way.
You get to choose which projects you want to work on, when, and where. With the media you create, you have full rights to display them on your portfolio and grow your resume while gaining hands-on experience with client-work in the creative space.
You will have the opportunity to work with all sorts of clients ranging from events, to non-profits and local community organizations. To date, we have worked with over 10+ youth in supporting their aspirations to become photographers, videographers, and creative geniuses.
There is no commitment, meaning you can choose to do one project, or many.
please note that you are volunteering your time, meaning that no compensation will be provided
Am I eligible for the program?
In order to be eligible for this program, you must:
Be either a high school or post-secondary student
Parental consent is required for those under 18
Be residing in Calgary, Alberta
Have your own form of transportation to and from projects
Be creative, amibitous, and willing to learn!
No prior experience is required. We'll teach you everything from camera basics to working with clients. You do not need to bring your own equipment, although you are welcome to use your own if you have any.
How do I enroll?
Due to the demand of the program, not every youth will have the opportunity to participate. If you're interest, please complete the application form and we will get back to you within 7 days.
All applicants are thanked for their interest in advance. Those who are selected will be contacted with opportunities and onboarding.
